Homemade Chai Tea Latte

Chai Concentrate

  • black tea bags

  • ground allspice
    1/2 tsp
  • ground cardamom
    1/2 tsp
  • ground cinnamon
    1 tsp
  • ground cloves
    1/4 tsp
  • ground ginger
    1/2 tsp
  • ground nutmeg
    1/2 tsp
  • maple syrup
    2 tbsp
  • water
    2 c
  • whole cloves
    2

Per Latte

  • chai concentrate
    1/2 c
  • ground cinnamon
  • maple syrup
    1 tbsp
  • milk
    3/4 c

  • saucepan
  • fine mesh sieve
  • small saucepan

Chai Concentrate

    Add water , ground cinnamon , ground ginger , ground cardamom , ground nutmeg , ground allspice , and whole cloves (or ground cloves ) to a saucepan . Bring to a boil, whisking constantly for ⏱️ 1 minute , then remove from heat and steep for ⏱️ 5 minutes .
    water: 2 c, ground cinnamon: 1 tsp, ground ginger: 1/2 tsp, ground cardamom: 1/2 tsp, ground nutmeg: 1/2 tsp, ground allspice: 1/2 tsp, whole cloves: 2, ground cloves: 1/4 tsp

    Return to heat, add black tea bags and maple syrup (or honey), and bring back to a slight boil. Turn off heat and steep for ⏱️ 5 minutes .

    Remove tea bags and strain through a fine mesh sieve . Reserve 1/2 cup for immediate use; refrigerate the remainder for up to 2 weeks.

Per Latte

    Heat milk (whole, coconut, cashew, almond, or oat) with maple syrup and a pinch of ground cinnamon in a small saucepan until edges bubble, stirring frequently. Remove from heat.

    Froth the milk with an immersion blender or fork until foamy.

    Pour chai concentrate into a mug and slowly add the frothed milk. Top with a pinch of cinnamon if desired. Serve warm.
